Sometimes there is no apparent reason, then it is classified as 'Unexplained Infertility', which is very frustrating.

Long term use of the contraceptive pill, from an early age, stops the reproductive system from working, sometimes it takes some assistance to restart.

Perhaps lifestyle has a part to play? We are all living busy lives, not enough time to look at our diet, working too hard, long hours, shift working, high levels of stress and anxiety, spending hours driving, not sleeping enough, spending hours on a computer, financial stress. All these have an impact.

Our food and drink sources also have an impact. High caffeine intake, high alcohol intake, nicotine, processed foods, high sugar intake, excessive fatty food intensive farmed foods, chemical sprays on foods, plastic wrappings on food, plastic water bottles, solvents and chemical cleaners.

Body movement is important, do you exercise? Gentle movement is good, walking, yoga, pilates. Excessive exercise is not helpful for conception if you are having difficulties.

How Can I Help?

Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the body as a whole. During the initial consultation I look at all aspects of your health, looking at imbalances in the body. The objective of acupuncture treatment is to regulate the menstrual cycle, ensure energy in the reproductive system is at the correct temperature, pH and flow.

I offer advice on a balanced healthy diet, dietary supplements, and  I can also prescribe Chinese Herbs if I think it is beneficial.

I can also offer help with relaxation methods.

There are often no quick fixes, we work out a treatment plan together. You must be prepared to be patient, it generally takes a few menstrual cycles for things to balance out, then begin to move forward.
